TV Personality
“I want to use my media influence to make sure God’s Word is heard in every corner, every feed, and every ear.”
“My name is Cynthia Mapando. I’m 23 years old and work as a TV presenter here in Zimbabwe. When I first joined the Faith Comes By Hearing training program, I honestly felt a bit out of place, surrounded by pastors and community leaders who were much older than me. But I then realised that God had placed me there for a purpose.
This programme has completely changed my heart. It opened my eyes to the reality that there are still many people who have never had access to the Word of God. Some can’t read, yet through this programme, they can listen and experience the life-changing power of Scripture. That thought has deeply moved me.
As we went through the sessions with Rev. Dr. Alemayehu Hailu, I felt a strong burden rise within me to go beyond my comfort zone, beyond the city, and reach people in rural areas who are still waiting to hear God’s Word in a language and way they can understand. I’ve never travelled outside Harare, but now I can’t wait to start Bible listening groups and share this message with the youth in other communities.
I’ve also come to see how vital the digital space is in spreading the Gospel. In a world where social media and AI dominate, many other voices are speaking loudly but few are sharing the Good News. I want to use my media influence to make sure God’s Word is heard in every corner, every feed, and every ear.
This programme reminded me of Romans 8:28, ‘For we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.’ I believe this is part of my calling, to help others hear, believe, and live by the Word. Faith truly comes by hearing, and I’m grateful to be part of a vision that is changing lives one voice at a time.”During the third week of October 2025, church and community leaders in Harare Zimbabwe gathered for a transformative Faith Comes By Hearing training, led by Rev. Dr. Alemayehu Hailu, Regional Director for Eastern & Southern Africa. The program was designed to equip leaders with the tools and knowledge to establish Bible listening groups in their communities, ensuring that God’s Word reaches everyone, including those who cannot read.
