THE CURSE IS BROKEN

 

Edson Bandera, 45 of railway 28 village, Norton is a peasant farmer with 2 daughters Anna 20, and  Evelyn 13 both have dystrophic muscles and are unable to walk.  They always thought their family was cursed because the condition of their girls worse after the premature death of his wife.

 

“We visited many traditional healers to find a cure and ask for their assistance to review the person or persons behind all this, however, to no avail”. ” It pained us because both girls were born ok and at around 6 years Anna started losing power in the legs and Evelyn at 8 years, we did try to seek medical attention but traveling back and forth from Harare was a challenge as we couldn’t afford bus fare”.

 

Upon hearing about the project being implemented by the Bible Society of Zimbabwe of empowering children who are differently-abled he started attending support and listening groups when he heard John 9 during a listening session. “My life changed after the discussions as I came to the realisation that what I am going through may be a testimony that might inspire others.

Bible Society of Zimbabwe is holding training workshops to uplift caregivers economically through income-generating projects like petroleum jelly and soap, and facilitating the formation of listening and support groups. The children are receiving assistive devices and children Bibles to help them to read especially those with dyslexia.
